Paul M. Portz, Jr. is a founding partner of Grizopoulos & Portz, PC. He specializes in criminal defense, traffic violations and personal injury.

In August 2002, Paul was appointed Assistant District Attorney by the Honorable Denis Dillon, District Attorney of Nassau County. He was assigned to the Nassau County District Court Trial Bureau where he handled misdemeanor criminal cases from arraignment through trial. After successfully trying many criminal cases, he was promoted to the County Court Trial Bureau. There he prosecuted felony cases including Grand Larceny, Assault and DWI. In 2005, Paul was promoted to the District Attorney's Street Narcotics and Gang Bureau. He was responsible for the prosecution and trial of serious narcotic cases involving drug sales, confidential informants, undercover detectives and gang related criminal activity.

During his tenure with the Nassau County District Attorney's Office Paul was selected for specialized training at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy which he successfully completed at the University of South Carolina.

In late 2005, Paul entered private practice defending those charged with both misdemeanor and felony crimes. Since that time Paul has successfully defended the rights of those accused of crimes at arraignment, judicial conference, motions and trial. Since his appointment in 2002, Paul has successfully prosecuted and defended high profile cases that were closely followed by local and national media outlets.

Since 2005 Paul has handled hundreds of traffic violation cases in Nassau and Suffolk Counties as well as all New York City Traffic Violation Bureaus and Upstate New York Courts. He has negotiated successful dispositions as well as numerous trials.

Paul is an attorney in good standing admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
